David and Goliath Builders Wins Grand Award for Their Oconomowoc Cape in the 1999 Parade of Homes

The Metropolitan Builders Association of Greater Milwaukee announced the winners of the 1999 Parade of Homes Awards at a prestigious awards ceremony held on September 1, 1999 at The Country Inn Hotel & Conference Center in Pewaukee. The event, hosted by Master of Ceremonies Gordon Hinkley of WTMJ radio, was filled with a capacity crowd of approximately 375 individuals.

Judges considered overall exterior and interior appearance, architectural merit, use of materials, traffic patterns, workmanship and the design of key rooms in the home to set apart the winners from the 24 participating Parade of Homes models.

David & Goliath Builders, Inc. received the 1st place award for their 1999 Parade Model The Oconomowoc Cape II-The Grand Award. Their model is located in Two Rivers Subdivision in Mukwonago. The model combined classic architectural design and a practical floor plan with a first floor master bedroom suite.

The dramatic great room is the focal point of the home with cathedral ceilings, skylights, transom windows and a corner brick fireplace with a custom carved mantel. The model showcased a custom made staircase, cabinets and moldings. David & Goliath Builders utilized Cindy Gear of Gear Interiors for all interior decorating and design. Gear employed three different faux painters that featured wall artwork and different faux finishes in the model. Gear also utilized Ken Michaels, Pier One, The Wish List, Milegers and Linen and Things for furniture and accessories.

The Parade of Homes runs through September 12th. Hours are weekdays 3-8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day 12-5 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 at the Parade Site.

The MBA is a professional association of 1,050 home builders, suppliers and trades people that helps establish business ethics and industry standards.
