David’s love for residential architecture grew from living in seven different states and homes during his childhood. Their seventh move was to Wisconsin during David’s freshman year of high school. He began his career in residential construction as a rough carpenter working for two area builders while going to high school & college. After college he opened his own business, named in part after Goliath, a beautiful black lab and Dave’s constant companion. Over 30 years later, our name is still synonymous with quality craftsmanship. Today, with a new Goliath by his side, Dave expedites all projects, manages the crew foremen and coordinates all subcontractors and suppliers. His extensive knowledge of the building industry and building process ensure quality from the first design meeting right through to project completion.

Ann Rodrigues

Ann jointly founded David & Goliath Builders and DG Remodeling with her husband David in 1985 after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications & Marketing. Ann oversees all of the business operations and marketing of the company. She is instrumental in producing everything you see about our family of building companies in marketing & advertising. Ann also works with customers on designing their projects as well as helping them to select their building materials and make color selections. She is passionate about making the home building process fun and exciting. Ann wants all of our customers to know that building & remodeling homes is more than a job at David & Goliath Builders, DG Remodeling & Avid Homes it is what we all love to do! The most rewarding part for Ann is that every day she comes to work with a staff of people and customers who really appreciate what our company has to offer.

Andrew Risch

Architectural Designer

Andrew started his residential design career in 1998 after graduating from MATC with an Associate Degree in Architectural Technology. He further enhanced his education with a Wisconsin Home Inspector license, attending monthly meetings to stay current on home maintenance, design and code information. This dedication to the profession is evident in his approach to home design, incorporating the client’s daily needs into the spaces he creates. In 2005, Andrew started using the REVIT BIM 3-dimensional drawing program. This technology allows clients to “walk through” their home before a shovel ever moves the dirt. It enables real-time design changes and facilitates open communication between our designer and client. New construction or remodel, Andrew makes certain today’s dream becomes tomorrow’s home sweet home.

Sharon Volz

Remodeling Specialist

Sharon is a degreed Interior Designer and has been a professional remodeling designer for over 20 years. Through the National Association for the Remodeling Industry (Nari) she became a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) and has also earned a UDCP certification (Universal Design Certified Professional) giving her the ability to design for aging in place. The care and attention Sharon puts into her projects is reflected in the number of return customers and the number of referrals she receives. Her goal is to design living spaces that reflect the lifestyle and needs of her clients by offering unique solutions for space planning. Sharon’s attention to detail throughout the remodeling process and her desire to treat your project as her own results in beautiful spaces, smiles of joy and, judging by the thank you cards she receives, very happy clients!

Mark Walmer

New Home & Remodeling Specialist

Mark began his career in the industry over 22 years ago as a carpenter building high-end custom homes. His passion for the architectural design side of construction inspired him to earn a degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and to become a certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR). After designing award-winning homes for area builders, he decided he loved the challenge of remodeling and renovating existing homes. Mark’s professionalism is evident from the first meeting and his enthusiasm is contagious. Whether starting from scratch and designing a new home or remodeling an existing floor plan, Mark’s extensive knowledge of how to build a home, his love for design and his ability to listen to his clients is a winning combination.

Makayla Koser

Interior/Architectural Designer

Makayla began her passion in residential construction and design her junior year of high school in 2017. After graduating high school, she then continued her schooling through Waukesha Technical College pursuing an Associate’s Degree in both Interior Design and also Architectural Construction. With her dedication and attention to detail, her goal is to make the client’s space more suitable to fit their needs and wants. She will always treat the project as if it were her own making sure the client receives the quality they deserve.

Scott Wright

Rough Carpentry Foreman

Scott brings 17 years of experience to the rough carpentry on your home. He worked for us during his apprenticeship through Moraine Park Technical College and stayed with David & Goliath Builders Inc upon completion. Scott’s quality work is due in part to his experience as a finish carpenter; he understands how the quality of his rough framing affects the rest of the building process. He enjoys the variety in his job and being outside (more so when the temps are over 70°). Scott loves to see the house on the blueprints turn into your dream home.

Chris Zylka

Rough Carpentry Foreman

Chris went through the MATC Carpentry program 21 years ago and has been with David & Goliath Builders Inc. for 18 years. His extensive experience ensures your home’s construction starts with the highest quality framing work; his fun loving nature ensures a welcoming jobsite. Progress is made every day on our projects and Chris loves that about his job. The fact that tanning is free in summer is just an added bonus!

Tim Heling

Finish Carpentry Foreman

CERTIFIED LEAD SAFE RENOVATOR

Tim has been a member of our professional building team since the company’s inception in 1985. Tim began his carpentry career working with his father, who owned his own finish carpentry business. He brings over 30 years experience to David & Goliath Builders and DG Remodeling and prides himself in maintaining a high level of quality work. Tim is a true Picasso of wood, responsible for designing some of the most unique woodwork features seen in our custom homes and remodeling projects. His attention to detail shines through in his grain matching skills and all the tight joints. Tim’s years in the industry have brought our family of building companies numerous craftsmanship awards. He ensures that all of the finish work meets the standards he would expect in his own home and feels the most important detail is getting the job done the way you want it.
